Dianna Moore has played volleyball for 9 years. This year she was named Team Captain of the Gulf Shores Varsity Volleyball team. She was also added to the AVCA All American Watchlist for uncommitted Seniors. She plays for her school during the
fall and plays travel volleyball in the winter and spring for the Pleasure Island
Volleyball Club. Dianna balances her academics with her athletic participation.
Dianna has a GPA of 4.2630. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the
National English Honor Society, the Sustainability Academy, and Friends of
Exceptional Students. Last year she received a 31 on her ACT and was given a
certificate of excellence by her school. She also serves her school as Senior Class
secretary and as a Student Ambassador. She was recently nominated by her
school to be a part of the U.S Senate Scholarship. Her future plans include
attending USF to get her undergraduate degree in biology and then go on to
graduate dental school and become an orthodontist. In her free time she enjoys
volunteering at her youth group, going to the beach, and spending time with
friends and family. She also enjoys Scuba diving as she was one of six of the first
group of certified divers to receive a scholarship from her school.

Morgan McCartney began her track and field journey with the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics where she qualified for and competed in the national championship
meet in 2017 and again qualified in 2018 (both in high jump). Morgan has been
competing with the GSHS varsity track team since 8th grade. She competes in
numerous events including pentathlon, heptathlon, high jump, long jump, triple
jump, shot put, javelin, hurdles, sprint-distance and middle-distance races and
relay teams. She has qualified in multiple events for the AHSAA state
championship meet in both indoor and outdoor track every year since 8th grade.
She has been All-Section every year since 9th grade (high jump, triple jump, long
jump, hurdles) and All-State in 11th grade (triple jump and high jump). She was
the Baldwin county triple jump champion in 9th grade. Last year she finished her
indoor pentathlon season ranked as 11th in the state across all divisions. She
holds numerous school records including pentathlon points earned, long jump,
triple jump and 4 x 200 relay (in indoor) and triple jump, 4 x 100 relay and
heptathlon points earned (in outdoor). Morgan was voted female athlete of the
year in 8th, 9th and 11th grades. Other sports that she has participated in include
cross country (7-8th grades, 12th grade) and cheerleading (GSMS 7-8th grades,
GSHS 9th grade).
As a student, Morgan consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment and
hard work by maintaining a GPA 4.0+ while taking honors and/or AP courses. Her
current GPA is 4.10. She is a member of National Honor Society. She has been
very involved in the health science academy during her time at GSHS. During her
11th grade year, she participated in the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of
America) competition in the field of pharmacy science and qualified for state by
being in the top 20 scorers state-wide. She also became a certified patient care
technician which allows her to work in hospitals providing direct patient care. She
has been successful with Dual Enrollment courses during 11th and 12th grades
and will graduate with the majority of her college-level freshman core classes
completed. She is currently working on a Capstone Project with a research focus
on mental health in athletes. She was elected president of the GSHS HOSA
chapter for this school year. She has recently been nominated for the Congress of
Future Medical Leaders Award for Excellence. She is planning to continue her
career as a track and field athlete at the collegiate level and aspires to become a
physician (more specifically, an anesthesiologist).
